Spiky Star

I've shown some crappy vintage Christmas decorations, but here's a cool spiky star you can make. Perfect for your mid century modern interior. Taken from a 1958 BH&G magazine.

This is a Herrnhuter Stern, traditional German protestant ornament. Here is an image from a church in Leipzig, one of the more popular searches right now on the CAPL authentic visual lexicon.

Actualy this is a Moravian Star and it's an old old Craft. You find them alot in the Amish/Dutch country. They are beautiful and made out of metal, plastic, paper, some have lights...A really nice project

This looks like the Moravian Star, first made by a geometry student in 1850. I'll have to try this out.

Hi there!

I have been looking for this star pattern for years! I found this while doing a Google search. My Grandmother used to make them, but I never knew the patten for them. Thank you so much! I will finally be able to make my own for Christmas this year.

And what a wonderful page you have. I'll be sure to be back again.

The Moravians found refuge from religious persecution in the German village of Herrnhut, I was there way back in June and bought a plastic model kit of a red and white Herrnhuter Stern, which only just tonight i have wired and lit up for the first time! it's shining on me as I type this. Must have a go at making a paper one now!
