1962 Seattle World's Fair
I have been looking through my slides since I am hosting for Mike at Box of Slides. I came across a large metal box with slides from various trips, including a few from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The photographer was very organized. He labeled each slide and even had a chart in the box with a full description of the photos. Unfortunately, under the World's Fair slot, he wrote, "BORROWED" so there are obviously many missing shots. There were a handful left, I guess not good enough for whoever borrowed them. I still have tons of slides to look at, so I'm hoping that I will find them in that Bermuda Triangle we call a garage.

Gotta say, I just found your website off of yahoo yesterday, spent alot of time going through all the older posts. What a great site- I love seeing nostalgia at its best! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for visiting Tara!
I live next door to the Seattle Center, but these shots make the place look pretty magical. And considering the monorail is not running (and probably won't be for the rest of the year), it's great to see people riding it!
except for "Food Circus Building" and the stuff outside in "monorail view", and the clothes people wear, it all looks exactly the same today.

Great collection. The Seattle Center still looks very much like that. Maybe a bit cleaner then but still almost identical.
I live in Seattle (moved here 10 years ago) and I've always been fascinated by World's Fair photos! I collect souvenirs and whatnot from the Fair. Great find! Oh, and I love the sour-puss looks on all those women's faces! Looks just like every picture of my grandmother.
Great find!
Discovered your site about 2 weeks ago (amazing what a Google search of Jim Palmer + Jockey will give you) and have enjoyed the 'archives' thoroughly.
I recently visited Seattle and except for the clothes on these people, it doesn't look much different around the Needle to me. I have some photos from my trip that are from similar angles. Alas, the monorail is not running. But the tracks are still there.
Thanks for the trip to the past. I'll be back to visit now and again.
I see you have pictures of the U.S. Science Building--if it looks familiar, it was that design that got the architect the commission for the Twin Towers.
