A Very Retro Christmas

Hey folks, Nick from Square America here wishing everybody the happiest of holidays. In the spirit of the season I've posted a large selection of Christmas photos from the 50s and 60s- you'll find creepy santas (are there any other kind?), aluminum trees, kids both excited and disappointed, and presents galore.

How Great!! Reminders of the 50's. One photo looks like Bing Crosby and the seams are sooo straight on the other. Cannot believe it. I am sure some of us have photos like these

Thanks for posting all those great photos Nick! My favorites are the chubby girl with the mod outfit and the boy with the models.

Joan, so true! My mother's childhood photo album has lots of pictures like this. The inflatable reindeer looks very familiar too.

Merry Christmas Swap! And to all the Swappy contributors and readers too.

Oh! Oh! Oh! You're making me weep with pleasure! This is the best photo set ever! Merry Christmas!

My favorite is either the woman bending over in front of the tree (thanks for taking that one, DAD), Bing Crosby opening his gift of embroidered underpants, the guy offering a beer to Santa, the chubby girl in matching top and tights, the loneliest aluminum tree in the world in front of the wall lights, or the ladies with Christmas tree hats. But they are ALL fabulous. The emotional flood triggered just by the carpet in the very first photo is overwhelming me. Thank you.

Awesome. I wish I still had my parents' aluminum tree. We had a regular tree in the living room and the metal one in the club basement. It had only pink Christmas balls and I loved it. Merry Christmas and thanks for the Memories.

Memories, memories, how those pictures bring back such wonderful memories of years gone by. I only hope that in years to come "today" brings back as good a memories for this generation.

Could Christmas have been any kitschier? I actually had the inflatable reindeer - my mom said they picked it up in the local Esso a couple of days before Christmas and it was the hit of holiday for me! Wow, what a memory!

All these are so cool! What a collection! My fave is the color photo of Lady wearing pearls and earrings in rose sweater, in side profile next to tree. Thank you Nick!

These pictures are great. We had the inflatable reindeer and a Santa Claus too. I liked the Bing Crosby lookalike photo, it was too wild. Thanks for the memories and for sharing!

Just WONDERFUL. Thank you!

To the little girl in the matching pink/patterned shirt and tights: I'm SO sorry.

Did anyone notice the color-wheel light behind the tinsel tree? Classic

There is no way today's photos could ever be as hilarious and kitschy as these.

Thanks for the memories!
