Ken Dodd & The Diddy Men

Found this Ep record from 1965 when Ken Dodd was at his height today at a charity shop. I have a similar LP with The Diddy Men but this has different tracks. Sadly only able to uplaod a bit of one here. The other file in a radio show from the 80's 0r 90's called "How Tickled I Am"- a profile of Ken Dodd where he talks about his life in show biz.
We saw Ken Dodd live in North Wales recently and he is still incredibly funny and kept a packed audience rolling in the isles until 1a.m. in the morning!
"Ken Dodd got his big break appearing at Nottingham Playhouse in 1954, going on to top the bill at Blackpool in 1958 from where his show was broadcast live the following year.
His career as a comedian really took off with the advent of television but his act still owed a lot to the traditional "stand-up", prevalent in the old Variety Theatre.
Not only a legendary comedian however, his musical career has been sensational, particularly in the 1960's when his singles, such as 'Happiness', 'Promises' and 'The River' topped the Charts and in 1965, 'Tears' sold over two million copies, earned Ken two gold discs and went straight into the Charts at no.1. 'Tears' is still one of the biggest-selling singles of all time!
Ken has not been short of Radio and Television appearances either. 'Doddy's Music Box', 'The Ken Dodd Show', 'Ken Dodd's World of Laughter' and of course, 'Ken Dodd and the Diddymen' as well as the highly acclaimed 'Audience With' shows have all got high ratings.
Ken is also an accomplished actor. He has starred in both 'Twelfth Night' and the 1996 movie epic 'Hamlet', as well as famously starring in 'Dr. Who and the Bannermen'.
He was awarded an OBEin 1982 and in 1991 was given the British Comedy Awards' highest accolade for his lifetime contribution to humour, a 'Lifetime Achievement Award'."

Ken Dodd and the Diddy Men (not to mention the Ticklestick) featured heavily in my nightmares back in the 1970s. Absolutely bloody terrifying - I found myself shuddering slightly when I came upon your post. My husband was scared silly by him as a kid as well, it turns out...I'm astonished to learn he's still performing live, given that he seemed quite old to me thirty years ago. Have his teeth improved?
Dodd's teeth looked bloody awful in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. Still in his few seconds on screen he made me laugh all right.
Doddy is not to eveybody's taste I agree but to have freudian nightmares about his tickling stick is going a bit too far!
His teeth are a trademark and as such are insured for vast ammounts. Simply huge! Mind-bogglingly tattinormous missus!
Just watched an interview with Doddy, and much to my surprise, his famous teeth are quite obviously false. They are plainly seen to be moving up and down as he speaks!
